Welcome to the
quiet side of the ridge

Twelve houses set low into the slope, far enough apart that the only lights you see at night are your own.

See the houses
01 — The settlement1240 m

A small settlement for people who want a mountain to themselves. Fog fills the valley most mornings and burns off by ten. Above it, the houses sit in full sun, turned away from each other and toward the peaks.

Every house is built from the same four materials: charred larch, local granite, board-marked concrete and triple glazing. Nothing is painted. Everything is meant to go grey with the weather.

Twelve plots and no more. The rest of the slope stays meadow and scree.

The inversion layer settles at about 1,300 m for most of the cold months. The houses start 340 m higher.

So the valley goes quiet under a white floor, and you stay out on the terrace.

Architecture that sits low

Nothing rises more than 7.5 m above the slope. From the valley you mostly see rock and larch.
